I came home today and found two packages waiting for me to open…
The very generous people at Teapigs and Qi sent me bundles of tea to review. There are so many unusual flavours like Liquorice and Peppermint and Chocolate Flaked tea. I’m a Green Tea kinda gal, so I’m very excited to try these different flavoured teas.
The Chinese have been drinking herbal teas for centuries…is there something they know that we don’t?
Green tea in particular is abundant with a variety of health benefits:
Helps to burn fat
Digested food is broken down into a substance called triglyceride, important for the body’s general functional. It is broken down in the liver where it is then transported into the blood stream to tissues around the body. When there are enhanced levels of triglyceride it is deposited as fat promoting obesity and diabetes. Green tea contains high levels of polyphenols, an enzyme that is accountable for degrading excess triglyceride, and in the long-term prevents the absorption of fat in the body.
Increases the rate of metabolism and weight loss
One of the major components of Green tea a powerful antioxidants called catechin polyphenols, which stimulate the metabolism and aids weight loss. One such antioxidant, epigallocatechin gallate, triggers the central nervous system which leads to fat being released in to the blood stream for the body to use as a source of fuel, essentially burning the fat.
Increases your energy levels
Drinking Green tea promotes the body to utilise the fatty acids by the liver and cells in the muscle tissue. Consequently, it takes longer for the body to break down the carbohydrates in the body as in this context they are not acting as the prime energy source. Therefore, this results in enhanced endurance and duration of exercise.
