{WIAW} Homely Productivity

in EATS!, WIAW

Hello loves! I hope this week is treating you well. It’s been a very crazy week for me so far with lots of exciting plans coming together. There is so much going on at the moment that it’s hard to keep up, but everything is heading in the right direction.

Peas and Crayons

Well it’s that time of the week again, it’s time for WIAWof course!  So I’m going to get started with the low down of Mondays activities, where I was working from home and having a very productive day with my thesis.

Three ginger tea to start my day!

I had to be up pretty early to get to my doctor’s appointment (nothing serious just routine) so I skipped my usual morning workout and got up extra early and got some work done. There was also time for a lovely and relaxed breakfast.

2 free range scrambled eggs with a chopped peaches and fresh blueberries.

I’m loving peaches and blueberries together at the moment, such an awesome combo! It was so nice to have a leisurely breakfast on a weekday for a change too, so much nicer to be able to taste and savor every mouthful rather than shoveling it in as quickly as possible.

After my appointment I got some more thesis editing done but worked up an appetite. Since I was at home I thought I would take advantage of my blender and whip up a smoothie.

Banana, orange, and blueberries make a delicious smoothie. I was surprised by how sweet this turned out with just the natural sugars in the fruit. It gave me a much needed boost as I was feeling quite tired by this point.

For lunch I had a calprese salad with mixed leaves, mozzarella, tomatoes, basil leaves, black pepper and a small drizzle of extra virgin olive with a toasted whole meal bagel topped with lots of sweet chilli hummus.

This was the yummiest lunch; working from home has so many benefits especially in the food stakes.

In the afternoon I decided to take a break and read some blogs as well as prepare an afternoon snack.

Fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt are always a winning pairing for me and I had a craving for it so I added some Greek yoghurt to a bowl of red grapes with some Honey Seeds, so good!

I soon got back to work and actually finished what I had planned out for the day earlier than expected…yay!!! It’s always a bonus to finish early, which meant I could get on with some other projects that I’m working on too, go me! Then I got ready and headed to the gym to do workout Afrom my plan.

Later on I made dinner and lucky enough I had some of the chilli that I made on Sunday evening leftover as I didn’t feel like cooking.

This chilli is based on my Healthy Chilli recipe, but I used soya mince instead. It worked out great and even Alfie liked it too. Another meal that we can both eat even with our different diet preferences, I think I will be cooking with soy mince a bit more so that we can enjoy more meals together. Mine was served with streamed spring greens whereas Alfie had his with rice.

The evening was just spent relaxing with a mug of my current favourite liquorice and mint tea and some of my Mini Peanut and Dark Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

A great end to a very productive day!

I’m so lucky that I get to write my thesis at home, I love it. Having my creature comforts around me and working hard in my yoga pants or sweats. I honestly think that I get more work done at home too, as long as I’m working from my dining table and not on the sofa in front of the TV. Plus it means that I get more time to spend making delicious food, what’s not to love about working from home?!

Do you get more work done at home or in the office?

What’s the most amazing thing that you have eaten today?

I absolutely love blueberries and peaches together! Great idea to have them with an egg scramble. Your caprese salad looks absolutely wonderful. I can’t go past that :)

It really depends on what I’m working on, usually I tend to get more done at home because in the back of my head I feel like I need to do even more at home to make up for it!

I don’t technically have an “office” but I definitely get more work done anywhere but home. Lol. Even in my dorm room I am more productive than at home. There are just too many options! My favorite food so far today would be pears. Love ‘em.

That bagel looks delicious by the way. So simple, yet they never fail to be awesome :)

I’ve been loving the peaches and blueberry combo lately too! I’m excited for Fall to be coming around, but I’ll definitely miss all of the fresh summer fruit. I’m already having a hard time finding blueberries in stores, which makes me a sad camper for the months ahead :(

And I definitely prefer working from home. I just find that I’m able to get so much more done because of the peace and quiet, and not having to feel so stressed out and overwhelmed with what’s going on in the office. Granted, sometimes I get lazy and tempted to go watch TV or something, but working from home is always my first choice :)

Wow seriously all of your food here looks so good, I would quite happily eat every single one of these meals in a day! Particularly your smoothie :-) I need to buy some flavoured hummous tomorrow, I haven’t had any in ages!

I much prefer working at home, I find it much more relaxing than working at uni, I like having all of my things around me. Being able to make fresh food is just one of the perks!

I definitely get more done at home. I’m so socially anxious everywhere else that I don’t feel ‘safe’ in an office, which was one of the main problems with my old supervisors insisting I work from an office when it wasn’t by any means a requirement. Now I work from home and only go to Uni for meetings, which makes me a bit more productive. I am still useless though, just slightly less useless than I was in an office!

I loved the Bushbok sweet potato I had at lunch (with peanut flour sauce and chickpeas) and I have you to thank for it :)

I love working at home, I am so much more productive- often I take a load of work home and do it on a Saturday afternoon- at work I get a lot of interruptions and I get distracted by other little jobs that also need doing.

I love working at home. No faffing about packing a lunch or fighting the commute traffic. Though I tend to get distracted by cleaning and doing housework…I love veggie chilli. Prefer soya mince or Quorn soo much more than beef.

  • Liziheartvegetables

Yum! I forgot hot much I loved veggie chili!! :) I totally need ot make some more!

  • Sunnie@moderngirlnutrition

Healthy chili is the best! Happy WIAW!

Happy WIAW! I love your breakfast. And cookies are always a good way to end the day. :-)

  • LilyLipstick

Looks like a really tasty day. I do feel productive working from home as I don’t have to worry about what I look like or forgetting something that I then need during the day. Although when I was studying I tried to mix it up with days at home and days at the library for a change of scene! x

  • Chrissy grace

Great blog! I was just wondering if you had any tips for being productive Ar home as I am an awful procrastinator! Xxx

I would love to work from home if I had a place big enough to do it. The house I live in at the moment is tiny and there is nowhere to work. I do appreciate seeing my colleagues as well, even if the office gets a bit too noisy sometimes.

  • Laura @ Happy Sugar Habits

I like working at home and can be super productive but I do find it a bit lonely sometimes? Does anyone feel the same? Still the lack of commute and being able to whip up your own fresh salads is a major plus. I really like the sound of that three ginger tea!

I’ve had a real craving for scrambled eggs recently and yours look so good!
Glad it’s going well; I prefer working from the office because I like to actually go to work but I think if I had an office here, it would be easier to switch to work mode :-)
    The liquorice tea sounds fab…

I think an office setting really makes for a productive day, I have my dining table for that :)

The tea is lovely! I guess it can be lonely if it’s an everyday thing, but luckily I have my “proper job” too.

I think the lovely thing about work is the people that you meet, you become a little family.

It is sad when you favourite seasonal produce disappears into the next season. I’m sure you will find a new love to replace your blueberries with.

I love bagels right now, so addictive!
