Happy Monday! I hope you have all had a great start to the week.
I’m feeling very relaxed and zenned out at the moment after my weekend away with my girlies at a spa for my hen do. Going out on a crazy night out and drinking until I drop isn’t really my thing any more, mainly because I cannot handle my alcohol the way that I used to in my youth…I’m getting old. =(
We went to the Village Hotel in Nottingham and got there on Saturday morning. This was my first spa experience so I wanted to make the most of it. I originally chose to have a facial and then a manicure, but after the facial I was far too relaxed to sit up straight to have my nails done so I have a back massage instead. I was in heaven!
After our treatments we headed out for some lunch. We found a lovely little pub near by. Twenty minutes after reading the menu as there was so much that I wanted to eat I chose the pan-fried sea-bass with crushed potatoes with a side of green beans. I also had some non-alcoholic pear Kopparberg too.
All of us forgot to bring our swimsuits so we headed to the nearby retail park to hunt for swimming costumes. I have bikinis at home but I am really not confident about wearing them in the pool in the UK, which is strange as abroad I am all over them. We spent the rest of the afternoon and early evening in the pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and steam room. We didn’t want to leave to get ready for dinner.

Our spa package also came with a 3 course meal:
Cheese and tomato tart, salmon steak, asparagus and hollandaise sauce, chocolate fondant with white chocolate ice cream.
This meal was so good! The salmon steak was a bit chunky so I couldn’t finish all of it.
The spa was about 20 minutes out of the city so instead of heading out for the night we smuggled wine and champagne into our rooms and had a girlie evening chatting to the very early hours.
Of course no hen do can go without some sort of alcohol fuelled tackiness. One of my bridesmaid brought with her a veil with devil hours, an L plate and a bride-to-be wand. Oh and not forgetting the penis straw through which we drank our champagne as we are class like that! =)
It was such a fab way to spend the night on our relaxing spa weekend, we were up till 3 am in the morning!
In the morning we headed down to breakfast and then to the pool for one last dip in the pool and Jacuzzi. We didn’t want to leave, but unfortunately our fab weekend had to come to an end.
I really had an awesome weekend and cannot thank my girlies enough for making it so special. All I have to do now is get married!
Have you been on a spa weekend before?
