{WIAW} Winter Comforts

in EATS!

Hello! I hope that you are all having a great week!

I’ve finally got round to replying to your comments on my self-esteem post.

Alfie and I left on Sunday night to spend some time with his mum and then it was straight back to work yesterday morning on a late shift. Even though I had a relaxing time at my mother-in-laws yesterday was pretty tiring with all of the travelling so today I’m just going to be pottering about the house and putting my feet up on my day off from work.

Today I’m going to fill you in on my eats from Saturday. It was a pretty standard day as I was at work all day, but I think my eats were pretty darn tasty and were basically the highlight of my day. So I will begin…

I was a rushed for time as I overslept slightly…ooops! Is anyone else finding it hard to get out of bed with this freezing cold weather we have in the UK? My cosy warm bed seems far more attractive then stepping out into the icy cold weather and snow.

I made sure that I had time to whip up some scrambled free range eggs with a chopped pear and orange.

After a busy morning at work it was time for my mid-morning snack of a banana and another orange.  For some reason I seem to be eating oranges non-stop recently.  Maybe my subconscious is trying to ward off the risk of a cold and keeping my Vitamin C levels up.

Lunch was a lovely salad of mixed leaves, red pepper, cucumber, pomegranate seeds and organic goat’s cheese.  I enjoyed this so much…the sweet pomegranate seeds and goat’s cheese together tasted incredible!

Last week I treated myself to some Nakd bars that were on a 2 for £3 offer. This cocoa and min flavour did the trick to perk me up in the afternoon along with an apple and peppermint tea.

Dinner was all about winter comfort food.  We have been enjoying apple and pork sausages with red onion gravy a lot recently.  This time I had it with swede mash and steamed broccoli.

In the evening it as all about rest and relaxation with more tea and hot water bottle whilst munching on dates stuffed with almond butter and Urban Fruit’s dried strawberries and apple and pears, yum!

My warm bed, lots of tea, duvet and hot water bottle and hearty food are definitely my winter comforts. What are your winter comforts to see you through the cold weather?

Your lunch and dinner look lovely.
I’m in total agreement about not wanting to leave a toasty warm bed to face the icy snowy outside.

  • Maria @ runningcupcake

That is my fave nakd flavour :)
Tea, tea, more tea, and some hot chocolate is what I have to warm me up in the cold!

Getting out of bed is definitely less appealing in the winter, but the promise of breakfast and a warm cup of tea always manages to pull me out anyways :) After that, hot chocolate, a warm blanket, oversized sweaters, cappuccinos, and the fireplace do a pretty good job of keeping me warm when the weather turns nasty.

Dates with almond butter…one of the best snacks ever! You should make your own raw bars, combination possibilities are endless and so much cheaper :)

I’m definitely in a winter comfort food type of mood too. Squash is probably my favorite comfort food. Mashed sounds great.

I bought myself some Nakd bars last night, and I’m looking forward to munching on it for lunch today :)
For me, nothing is a better comfort than homemade soup. it’s a liquid hug :) Especially with the cold weather now (though no snow in Cardiff yet – grr!) soup is my go to meal :)

    Lovely, just absolutely lovely!

  • Bronagh

I have lots of winter comforts! I love wearing chunky knits and jumpers and cozy slippers but food-wise it’s gotta be big bowls of vegetable soup with hunks of buttered homemade bread. Multiple cups of tea and coffee are also required when the temps drop low. I especially love treating myself to a Starbucks or Costa coffee when I’m out and about, not exactly purse-friendly but so yummy and comforting!

delicious looking food as always sweetie. I’m also enjoying a lot of dates with nut butter at the moment :-)
