If you didn’t know by now I’m a big lover of breakfast.  It is by far my most favourite meal of the day and it is something that I like to take my time over and enjoy.  Even though I always make time for a leisurely breakfast, there are times where life in general just gets in the way and there is no choice other than to have breakfast on the go.

McVitie's Breakfast Biscuits

With over 120 years of baking experience under their belts Mcvitie’s have designed a new product for those of us who lead a busy lifestyle and have to eat breakfast as we are going out of the door.  McVitie’s Breakfast Biscuits provide an ideal solution for those of us that need convenience and a portable and balanced breakfast.

The biscuits are made using wholegrain porridge oats which release their energy slowly to help keep those hunger pangs at bay until lunchtime.  In addition to that they are also packed full of vitamins D, B, Iron and fibre for extra nutritional value.  They also come in a variety of flavours such as Red Berries, Oat & Honey and Apple, Sultana and Cinnamon.

McVitie’s Breakfast Biscuits are easily portable as they come in packs of four which makes them handy for eating on the go.  There really are numerous scenarios for when these biscuits will be useful as they can be eaten on the train, whilst on the school run and in the office.  I think these biscuits would be great with some fresh fruit and Greek yoghurt for a healthy and satisfying breakfast.  You can also take advantage of in store promotions for £1 in Tesco and Asda or half price in Sainsbury’s.

You can check out McVitie’s Breakfast Biscuits Facebook page  and follow @McVitBreakfast on Twitter to find helpful hints and tips to help you cope with the morning madness!

I can’t believe this whole breakfast biscuit thing has taken off! I would literally be starving within about 10 minutes if I ate them for breakfast. It’s just junk food masquerading as healthy food, I don’t know what’s next: chocolate bars for breakfast? If I have to grab breakfast on the go it would probably be fruit nakd bars/homemade energy bars.

I’ve tried the honey and oat ones but they were a bit *too* honey-ish for me!! They would certainly appeal to people that like their honey though I’m sure!
I’m keen to try the berry and apple flavours and will definitely pick up some to try now they are on offer in the shops. This breakfast biscuit bonanza really has gone wild.. They must be amazingly popular with all the different manufacturers catching on to compete!

It’s such a shame all these breakfast biscuits aren’t gluten-free, I’d love to try them! Having said that, I do like to take my time over breakfast and I’d probably scoff these too fast :-)

I am sorry to say that I am very sceptical about them- when you compare them to normal biscuits (eg hob nobs or something) they are not nutritionally very different at all. And I agree with Lauren, they would not fill me up at all. They are still made with flour, honey, sugar, vegetable oil, sugar syrup….basically 1/4 sugar. Anyway, if you like them, fine, but I don’t agree with the marketing that they are a good breakfast at all.

I’ve tried a sample and actually found them pretty filling and tasty with a cuppa too! We all wish we had the time to sit down and take our time over it but lets face it if you are a working mum like me its the difference between getting a meal and not getting a meal sometimes!

I’ve had other brands of breakfast biscuits – they were more filling than I was expecting. I probably wouldn’t eat them everyday but they do seem convenient for busy days. x
