Throw back breakfasts

Like I said in my previous post I do love how pretty the snow makes everything look, despite it making in difficult to get out and about.  This picture was the perfect example of this.  I headed out the other day to get some supplies from the village shop, which was inconveniently closed due to the snow and couldn’t resist taking a picture of the church.  It just looked so stunning as the snow began to fall.

Since it has been far too cold and slippy outside to go out for runs I have been taking advantage of the space indoors and have been enjoying my yoga and work out DVDs.  I love the MTV yoga series and have even found the Power yoga routine online.  Its great that I can still get a great workout at home without going to the gym.  Love it!

It’s been such a long time since I’ve had whipped banana oats, but I had a craving for them on Tuesday morning.  To get whipped banana oats I just made them the usual way with lots of almond milk in the microwave and then put them in the blender.  The oats become super creamy and delicious.  I topped these off with organic honey, dates and pumpkin seeds…ah-meh-zing!

Another breakfast that I haven’t had in such a long time is a green smoothie in a bowl.  So long so I cannot remember the last time I had one!!! This was made using spinach, a banana, almond butter, ice, hemp protein, vanilla rice milk and ground flax. I also added dried cranberries and pumpkin seeds on top.  I cannot believe I waited so long to make one of these.  They are definitely more satisfying then drinking them straight from a glass.

For dinner on Wednesday night I made a wonderful miso soup using organic miso paste, homemade stock, lots of ginger and garlic, peppers, courgette noodles, spinach, carrots.  This was really light and comforting on a cold winter’s night.

My most favourite dessert this week has to be one of Tam’s cakes with coconut cream and softened frozen raspberries…yum!

I’ve also been pretoxing this week with these Alibi drinks full of herbal extracts and minerals.

So exciting about the wedding DVD, bet it was lovely to watch back and see it from a different viewpoint. I know exactly what you mean about the snow, everything does look lovely but I’d quite like to get around again please! Have a great weekend Jemma!

Oh, undoubtedly I miss green smoothies. But my stomach simply can’t handle them any more :( I’d have to cook my greens I think, which would probably defeat the point.

Fave workout DVD is a tie between Jillian Michaels Killer Buns and Thighs and her Extreme Shed and Shred – both of the hardest levels are really quite tough which I love as some DVDs are just blah when it comes to working really hard.

Best of luck with your thesis!!! The thought of mine scares the crap out of me but I am sure you will be far more confident and articulate than me, and pass with flying colours :)

I love the idea of whipped banana oats, so warming and creamy! I discovered my love of oats via other health bloggers this winter and my obsession continues! Do you make your coconut cream or it it bought? This is something I need to try – delicious!

That porridge looks lovely. I love having pancakes, but they are only for the weekend because they take ages!

I just had oats for the first time in a loooong while after taking a break from them to combat an intolerance, and they seriously tasted so much better than I remembered. It was especially nice to have a warm breakfast given the nasty weather outside. Brr.

I’ve been having a lot of juices and smoothies for breakfast but I had a quinoa flake porridge this morning for the first time in ages (As I was so cold!!) and it was delicious! I like the 30 day shred for a good quick workout, or I just go on youtube and find yoga videos which are usually pretty good.
