A slice of lemon in some warm water has been a major player in my morning routine for such a long time.
Generally, after waking up if it’s a gym day I will wash my face and clean my teeth in the bathroom before putting on my gym clothes and head downstairs. I’ll make my detoxifying elixir in a mug and have a light snack before hitting the gym. If it’s not a gym day then I pretty much do the same thing, but have a shower, dress, drink my warm water and lemon drink before eating breakfast and then get an early start on my work. Monday wasn’t a gym day, so after making my drink I made a start on breakfast.
For breakfast I made my current favourite of toasted rye bread topped with 3 scrambled free range eggs, seasonings and half an avocado. I’m still in love with this breakfast choice and I think that it’s here to stay. It kept me satisfied until lunch time and got me through all of my blogmin on Monday morning.
I resurfaced from my computer for lunch and made use of the falafel that I bought at the weekend. I really should make my own falafel, I totally know how, I even blogged a recipe for them. I had these tasty delights with a salad made from mixed leaves, an apple, almonds, red onion and cheese. Oh my this was good! Loved the mix of fruit, nuts and cheese in the salad.
Later in the afternoon I had a refreshing snack of melon slices. I was a bit disappointed with this particular melon and I love the refreshing sweetness and lovely flavour that they usually have. Although this one was very refreshing it didn’t taste all too good. Oh well, I guess you can’t have it all your own way.
Dinner was one of my quick and easy meals. I baked some salmon fish cakes in the oven and stir fried some kale, spring onions and peppers to make a super speedy meal. Alfie had his fish cake with a favourite salad that I make for him full of avocado, red onion and jalapeños – he likes spice! He also had a side of fries. I was so tired after this that I ended up passing out on the sofa at 8.30 pm…so much for the rock and roll life eh? Since I fell asleep there was no time for dessert (or yoga!), but I don’t think that I really needed it anyway.
Well that’s me all done for this week’s WIAW post! Obviously, if my schedule changes then my morning routine will change to suit, but I always make sure I get my warm water and lemon fix. The mornings wouldn’t be the same without it.
Now tell me about your morning routine. Is there a particular task/feature that you have to complete for the morning to feel just right?
Do you have a particular food or drink that you must have in the morning?
