My typical home style is white-washed walls with a pop of colour from my chosen accessories. The last 6-months we’ve had to battle to keep our rather minimalist master bedroom looking neat and tidy with a baby sleeping the same room too. I made sure that we kept the baby decor pretty simple in Aiden’s little nook in our room as he will be moving into his nursery in a few weeks time, so we can have more fun with colour and decorations then. His organic Hug Me Bear moses basket has blended in really well with our neutral room.
A bedroom for me should be a place of calm, to wash away and forget about the days stresses. Bold and jarring colours on every wall are not really my personal style and to me they don’t reflect that feeling of tranquillity that I crave in the bedroom. Despite my simple style, I do like a huge splash of colour and pattern on a statement wall and from pictures and accessories. Here are some of my favourite minimalist bedrooms ideas from Pinterest:
All of our bedroom furniture is solid oak, which has a lovely old rustic look about it. I just love the colour of it and to make it a bit of a feature in the room I decided to keep the bedding neutral, by using different shades of cream and champagne. The duvet set feels very luxurious feel as it’s made from satin and the colour sits well with our other bedding. Eventually, I want to update the scatter cushions by getting rid of the black ones and replacing them with more like the Madaline Cushion. It’s going to feel so weird when Aiden moves into his nursery, but I am looking forward to not sleeping on top of one of his teddies or comforters at night.
