Keen to show off the versatility of smoothies at a recent John Lewis event, I made this seriously rich and indulgent chocolate pear pudding smoothie, it tastes naughty when in fact it’s pretty healthy and packed with some super nutrients.
I’m really getting back into my smoothies at the moment, can you tell? I posted my Blood Orange & Cashew Smoothie recipe a few days ago. So, it’s safe to say that I was super excited to be invited to a smoothie making event with John Lewis and to be among lots of other bloggers to soak up all that inspiration.
An indulgent and rich dessert smoothie with avocado, pear, cocoa powder and dates that is full of nourishing ingredients!
- 1 pear
- 1/2 avocado
- 1 tsp flax seeds
- 2 medjool dates stones removed
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tbsp cashew nuts
- 2 tbsp coconut milk (the creamy part at the top)
- Coconut water until the desired consistency is reached
Blend all of the ingredients together in a blender until smooth and serve.
To start, we took part in a Q&A with Madeleine Shaw and then it was time to get our hands dirty with lots of beautiful fresh ingredients, superfood powders, nuts, and seeds and create our smoothies. Smoothies can be incredibly individual, depending on what’s in season, personal taste and sometimes mood. I was definitely in the mood for a dessert that evening so went with a chocolate theme for my smoothie. In went some avocado, pear, dates, cocoa powder, coconut milk, and water to name a few of the ingredients that I was drawn to.
Afterward, our smoothies were left in the hands of photographer Charlie Richards and a wonderfully talented food stylist who worked their magic on all of our creations. I also found it a great opportunity to pick Charlie’s brains about food photography and pick up some essential tips.
John Lewis has a great range of blenders, which has to be one of my most used appliances in my kitchen.
