We’ve had some lovely weather in these parts over the past few days. On Friday, it felt just like a summer’s day and we had lunch outside with friends at a lovely tea room and then went for a walk. Did anyone see the eclipse? I stood and watched it from my garden and was so excited by it as I don’t really remember what the fuss was all about with the last one, so I was determined to watch this one.
OK, on first glance I give it to you it does look like there’s a fried egg on my porridge. In actual fact, I had topped my lemon and blueberry porridge with full-fat Greek yoghurt and lemon curd and after posting this image to my social media lots of you told me that you thought it was a fried egg. Well I took this as a sign that I must try a fried egg on my porridge one morning and guess what I did:
I made a bowl of plain porridge with unsweetened almond milk and a pinch of sea salt and added a fried duck egg and avocado. I often make plain porridge and add lots of toppings so this was no different really. I will have to make savoury oats more often because this really tasted awesome and not strange at all as you might expect.
I’ve also been eating big bowls of full-fat Greek yoghurt this week for breakfast and dessert and adding some of my favourite things. To this bowl, I added some grain-free muffins that I made earlier in the week, pineapple and shredded coconut, yum!
Despite its swamp like appearance, this green smoothie was gorgeous. I whizzed up frozen blueberries, spinach, banana, almond milk and vanilla protein powder and drank it whilst I was getting other stuff done. This smoothie filled my glass 3 times over so I was quite full afterwards.
These boxes of sweet and salty goodness landed on my doorstep this week and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve tried both of them out for review purposes of course and I can happily report that both taste amazing. Now I have to try to not eat them all in one go, which is going to be tough!
Talking of things landing on my doorstep, these limited edition bars of Easter IQ Raw Chocolate arrived yesterday and I’ve added a bar to my healthy Easter chocolate giveaway that’s still running on the blog. There’s still time to enter, so check it out if you haven’t already!
It really has been a fantastic week of visiting friends, al fresco dining and a hint of summer sunshine. Aiden is rolling over like a trooper now and showing more interest in food. He had his hands in my thankfully cooled soup the other day and watches us so intently when we eat…baby weaning here we come! Yesterday I finally made it to the hairdressers to get my hair cut. I did want it colouring, but no one was available to do it, which makes the perfect excuse to go back for another pamper session in a few weeks time.
Did you see the eclipse on Friday? Do you remember the last one?
Have you tried savoury porridge before? What did you think – yay or nay?
