My workspace is my little centre, a spot that I can call my own and where I enjoy spending time. I adore what I do, and I needed my workspace to show that while still increasing my efficiency. Creating the ideal workspace for me became a passion project for me, particularly after spending countless hours on Pinterest admiring other people’s workspaces. I decided it was beyond time for me to build my own favourite spot that I absolutely adore.
As I was designing my home office, I wanted it to be both inspirational and stunning, but it still had to be a spot where I could get stuff accomplished. I’m addicted to keeping a running to-do list because it helps me stay organised, sane, and efficient. Knowing what my next goal is and ticking off finished tasks gives me a sense of accomplishment that motivates me to keep on before my day is over.
Today, I’d like to share a couple of easy hacks that have helped me transform my office into a productive (most of the time!) and happy place:
SETTING UP DEDICATED WORKSPACE
Having a dedicated work room in your home or office is a simple and effective way to increase your productivity. Your subconscious may recognise that it is time to put your head down and get some work done. I used to work in front of the TV with my laptop on my lap until I set up my desk room, and let’s just say my mind wasn’t really focused on the job at hand.
PURCHASE A COMFORTABLE CHAIR.
You’re more inclined to have more work completed and you’re happier working at your computer for lengthy stretches of time if you have a helpful and comfortable chair. Putting as much money into a good office chair as the budget makes is well worth it. You can be relaxed at your desk since you spend too much time there.
NOTEBOOKS AND STICKY NOTES SHOULD BE KEEPT ON HAND
Keeping a diary or sticky notes nearby is very useful for jotting down thoughts or things that need to be completed so that you don’t overlook. Keeping them close at hand eliminates the need to rummage in your desk cabinet, making them more open and saving you time.
TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF ONLINE RESOURCES
It’s incredible what you will find on the internet these days, like tools to help you keep organised and on track. To keep that positive streak alive, take advantage of the free online regular schedulers, task managers, and to-do lists.
BUY SOME BEAUTIFUL STATIONERY
I’ll confess it: I’m a stationery junkie who can’t save myself from buying a beautiful notebook that catches my attention. Call me nuts, but I love beginning a new journal because it gives me the opportunity to set new goals and create plans. I still notice that sitting at my desk keeps me more concentrated and relaxed because I have a huge stationery obsession.
MAKE A BOARD OF INSPIRATION
Inspiration or vision boards are not just beautiful, but they are also extremely motivating and inspiring. Beautiful quotations, postcards, and photographs with a particular purpose pinned or hung across your desk will help you remain centred on your objectives and increase your efficiency. Your priorities can evolve with time, and you can quickly add to and subtract from your motivation board to decide where you are at the moment.
These are only a few of the tricks I’ve discovered that have helped me be more effective at work; clearly, they won’t work for everybody. You are not superhuman, no matter how hard you try. Even if you have built the world’s most productive workplace, everybody has their boundaries and needs a rest. Our brains need rest, and after a short or long break, you can feel revitalised and ready to resume work.
