Well, what a month August has been. I thought it was going to be a season with huge shifts and unbalanced feelings for us, and I was right. In the middle of the month, we moved and settled into our beautiful new residence, and we can now see over the mountain of boxes that the new house is beginning to look like a home.
We went to IKEA last weekend for some ideas and came home with a variety of pretty things to spruce up the house, including a huge potted plant I’m naming Gertrude (because, why not!).
Since the home relocation, everything has been out of balance and a little all over the place – everyday life, exercise, jobs, dietary patterns, and self-care. We don’t have childcare until Aiden begins at his new nursery in a few weeks, which has made it impossible to meet job deadlines and left me exhausted.
To avoid tension in the days leading up to the shift, I consumed whatever was available and most convenient. This has included making poor food decisions, especially in the first few days after the shift. Avocado on toast has become a fast and nutritious favourite, and those frozen smoothie bags have become a lifesaver. My workout regimen had fully vanished, and my self-care habits had completely vanished as well.
Recently, I’ve been really into ready-made frozen smoothies!
Needless to mention, now that things are a little more resolved, I need to follow my own advice and do some serious self-care and concentrate on myself. I’ve already begun to eat well because I feel terrible whenever I eat an unbalanced diet for an extended period of time, and I’ve begun to gradually resume any fitness, just doing activities that I love.
We’re making progress and establishing a new rhythm in our new house. I’m just enjoying getting my own office in the new place, a place that I can call my own. I’m looking forward to seeing it all swanky and getting out of the crates.
Since moving, I’ve managed to treat myself to a gel pedicure and a touch of pampering at the nearest beauty salon. I like the ruby-red colour because it reminds me of fall. I’m so excited!
We took advantage of the sunlight and lived too close to the beautiful coastline before leaving Dorset. Several family trips to make the most of every moment. While I miss living on the shore, I know that this relocation was the best decision we could have made. Moving back to be closer to our families feels wonderful, and I’m looking forward to Aiden developing stronger ties with his relatives.
I’m keeping this month’s rundown short and sweet, but there’s a lot to tell you about after some behind-the-scenes tweaking. I hope you all have a wonderful September, and am I the only person who is looking forward to the arrival of autumn?
What was your August like? Are there any major developments on the horizon for you?
