Refreshingly fruity mocktails that are simple to make with only a few ingredients. If you’re trying to drink less alcohol this year and looking for some exciting non-alcoholic cocktails as an alternative to the typical soft drinks to enjoy then don’t worry because I’ve got you covered.
With a husband that’s teetotal, the drinks menu when we go out to a restaurant can be a struggle. The alcoholic side is generously packed with carefully selected wines and lovingly crafted cocktails, however, the non-alcoholic offerings leave little the imagination and can be disappointing. It’s almost as if the people that don’t want to drink are an afterthought and a list of soft drinks will be enough to satisfy.
A simple and refreshing mocktail recipe flavoured with raspberry and rhubarb.
- 60 ml Raspberry, Rhubarb & Orange Blossom Robinsons Fruit Cordial
- 4 raspberries
- Juice of 1 lime
- Small handful of mint leaves
- Soda water to top up
Add the mint leaves, lime juice, and Raspberry, Rhubarb & Orange Blossom Robinsons Fruit Cordia to a glass.
Crush the mint leaves as you stir the ingredients together.
Pour in some ice and pour over the soda water to fill the glass.
Garnish with the raspberries and slices of lime.
Not all restaurants and bars can be marked with the same brush; in fact, there have been some big changes in recent years with some places having an extensive mocktail menu. We’re a massive fan of mocktails and often have one when we’re out so it’s a key consideration when we’re choosing a place to go and eat. Also, when we have guests over it’s nice to serve something a little bit different from the norm and a mocktail is always a fun option.
Robinsons has created 2 new ranges especially for grown-ups, Fruit Cordial and Fruit Creations, where they enlisted flavour experts to put together the very best fruit combinations. I used the Fruit Cordials in my mocktail creations as they make great mixers and are made using real fruit and contain no artificial colours or flavourings.
Notes of pressed pear and elderflower make a wonderful botanical themed mocktail.
- 60 ml Pressed Pear & Elderflower Robinsons Fruit Cordial
- Squeeze of lemon juice
- Soda water to top up
- Garnish with blueberries and mint (optional)
Add the Pressed Pear & Elderflower Robinsons Fruit Cordial and lemon juice to a glass.
Pour in the ice and top up with some soda water.
Garnish with blueberries and fresh mint.
Growing up Robinsons squashes was one of my favourite drinks as a child, so I love that they’ve now created an adults only range. The sweetness of the Raspberry, Rhubarb & Orange Blossom Fruit Cordial works really well with the bitterness from the lime and fresh mint, so for me, a twist on a non-alcoholic mojito was the only way to go. Additionally, elderflower is one of my favourite flavours and Iike it best in drinks when it’s not overcomplicated with just a few ingredients, just soda water and a squeeze of lemon in this case.
The fruity flavours in these mocktails had me dreaming of long summer evenings, but I think I’ll certainly be making these all year round – bottoms up!
