Over the past few months, I’ve been having a good think about my business and the changes that I would like to make. Over the past nearly 8 years I’ve definitely grown and evolved as a person and naturally feel that my blog and my work has too.
One thing’s for certain is that things are about to change around here. I have a rebrand planned in the next few months and I can’t wait to get started on it all. When I started my blog it was to document my own journey back to a more balanced way of life after a disordered relationship with food. As we’ve grown together, it’s changed and taken a completely different direction. I had no idea that I would be switching from a career in scientific research to full-time blogger, but I’m so grateful that things worked out this way. It was a massive risk, and I’m not going to lie, sometimes it has been tough, I’ve definitely felt the sting of that feast or famine cycle that freelancing can bring.
I have a deep passion for my work and so grateful that I’m still here doing what I love, which is to support women to live their best lives, feel balanced, connected and nourished in all aspects of their lives. As such, the name Celery and Cupcakes has to go. It’s not very ‘me’ anymore and neither does it convey the message that I want to get across. You have no idea how many catering enquiries I receive to bake cupcakes for events. I thought the name up on a whim and although I liked it at the time because I was trying to find balance in my food choices and move away from restriction, it just doesn’t fit who I am or where I’m going anymore. Instead, as part of my rebrand, I’ll be changing the name of my business to Unconditionally Nourished, which I think is a much better fit – living a nourished life that is realistic for you that’s not an exception to anything else.
Being realistic about your own wellbeing and what that looks like in your life is key to my practice as a coach. I’m a big believer in tuning in to your body and tapping into what really works for you, no one else. Just because something works for your friend, family member or next door neighbour it doesn’t mean that it’s going to work for you, which is one of the main reasons that I don’t subscribe to diet culture either, but that’s a whole other post.
I won’t be suggesting that you gulp green smoothies every day, meditate at sunrise for 3 hours, head to a yoga retreat, charge up your crystals, adopt a vegan diet, go on a detox diet nor will I be telling you to enroll in a triathlon. Unless these things feel good to you of course then give it a go and enjoy them! However, wellness and being the best version of yourself should never feel awkward or forced it should feel natural as night and day. In short, I want to explore and find what wellness looks like to you and help you make that work in your life.
Another factor that’s really important to me is that I want to make coaching as affordable as I can because I want as many people to benefit from it as possible. I’ll be real with you, I’m not chasing a 6-figure coaching business, that’s not my motivation or my version of success. Although that would be lovely, what really drives me and lights me up is helping women discover their fabulousness and live a life with intention. From a personal perspective, my version of success is being able to do something that I love and fills me with great joy, but also supports my family and allows us to live a happy life.
Content-wise, everything will be the same, however, I am conscious of sharing more of me on the blog and less “how-tos” – I’m working on that! Also, you may have noticed that I refer to myself as a wellness coach or wellbeing coach. The term health coach has never sat well with me and irks me a little, it sounds too medical. The topics that I want to incorporate into my coaching practice such as self care, balance, intentional and mindful living are more holistic and I think the term wellness coach gets that across better.
So that’s pretty much where I’m at business-wise right now and the kind of wellness coach I want to be. I thought that I would share a little update and more about what I want to achieve and the changes I want to make. Thank you so much for sticking with me over the years and hopefully my change in direction. Your support means everything to me and for that, I’ll be forever grateful.
