While out and about on a family shopping trip at the weekend we popped into Costa for a pitstop to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the busy shops. Also, we thought it was a nice idea to treat ourselves to some hot drinks as it was pretty chilly outside and you can be sure that we couldn’t resist their cake counter, which is always full of temptation.
Other than a hot chocolate and the seasonal special drinks on the menu, a staple of mine on a Costa visit is their chai latte. At this time of year I just love the warm spices and always ask for extra cinnamon to be sprinkled on top of the froth because you can never have enough in my opinion. So that was my order sorted before we even stepped a foot through the door. We got a children’s hot chocolate for Aiden and Alfie ordered a caramel latte. Of course, we could not go without cake and after eyeing up the blueberry muffins we had a couple of those too.
The barista made my chai latte using Arla Lactofree milk that is now available in all Costa’s nationwide. Honestly, I couldn’t tell the difference between a chai latte made with regular milk and Lactofree milk, which can be easier to digest because it doesn’t contain lactose – perfect for those who maybe lactose intolerant or have a sensitive gut. I thought that Lactofree tasted just as good as regular milk and there was no unusual aftertaste to my chai latte as a result of using the different milk.
