A lovely pampering session is the perfect way to indulge yourself and take some time out from the stresses of everyday life. To treat myself I’ve really got into going to a spa for a massage or pedicure, which are my favourite treatments. Considering the cost of spa treatments this is something that is a luxury and something that unfortunately I cannot do very often.
Even though spa treatments may be only a treat for me, I’m making a conscious effort to make the time once a month to give myself a pampering session in the comfort of my home. It’s surprisingly easy to recreate a relaxing spa environment at home and pamper yourself with very little cost involved.
Making your own massage oils is actually much simpler than it sounds and you can infuse them with your favourite scents. Firstly, you need to choose your base oil, such as almond oil, coconut oil or avocado oil add then add your chosen essential oils. Each oil has its own specific benefits to aid sleep, digestion and general health and well-being.
Sugar body scrubs
DIY body scrubs are inexpensive and so easy to make. I love the sound of this Coconut Vanilla Body Scrub by Wonky Wonderful that uses one of my all time favourite products, coconut oil. A huge batch of your homemade body scrub should last you for ages and will rid your skin of dead skin cells and help it look plump and glowing.
Avocado face masks
Our skin can really take a bashing in the cold winter months becoming chapped and dry. Avocado is full of wonderful healthy fats and oils that are great for our skin and work well blended with other ingredients like lemon and honey to make a face mask.
Hair reconditioning treatments
The constant application of styling products, using flat irons and curlers can cause a lot of damage to your hair over time. Simply washing your hair with shampoo may not be enough to restore your hair to its former glory. Something like a reconditioning treatment that can sit in the hair for a few minutes once a week can help make your hair look healthy. I really like the sound of this Herb-Infused Conditioning Rinse that uses apple cider vinegar as its main ingredient, chamomile and water.
I don’t know about you but I’m terrible at looking after by feet. They really deserve some TLC and a homemade sea-salt based foot soak like this one would be such a treat for them.
